Our Founder

Leadership Behind the Success

The founder of Casa de Artisan grew up immersed in the vibrant beauty of Indian handicrafts. Born into a family that frequently relocated across India due to his father’s service in the Indian Army, he experienced firsthand the rich diversity of regional crafts. His mother, with her deep appreciation for local art, transformed their home into a living gallery adorned with treasures such as Kashmiri woodwork, Kerala’s textiles, Assam’s weaves, and Rajasthan’s iconic artistry. Through these experiences, he not only developed a lifelong admiration for craftsmanship but also became aware of the struggles artisans face—often receiving neither the recognition nor the fair compensation their talent deserves.

Inspired to make a difference, he founded Casa de Artisan as a platform to showcase the extraordinary work of artisans and share their timeless creations with a global audience. His career as a navigating officer in the Merchant Marines allowed him to travel to over 30 countries, broadening his understanding of diverse art forms and cultural traditions. Later, armed with an MS in Finance from Baruch College and several years of experience at a leading financial institution in New York City, he combined his expertise and passion to turn his vision into reality.

Casa de Artisan reflects his commitment to preserving traditions and supporting artisans. The platform currently features Indian ceramics, marble, woodwork, and more, with plans to expand into textiles, rugs, jewelry, and women’s apparel. Future offerings will also include global crafts, beginning with Africa and Mexico. At its core, Casa de Artisan is a celebration of generational artistry, sharing the stories behind each piece while ensuring artisans receive the recognition and fair remuneration they deserve.
